About
I'm Gio Kim, a Class-of-2029 student at Eastlake High School in the Seattle area. Most of my time goes to computational biology and programming — modeling how bacteria signal and coordinate, building small machine-learning models from scratch to understand how the real ones work, and writing the whole thing up. I founded Cells and Civics to publish that work in the open, and I compete in USACO, where I reached the Gold division as a freshman.
The rest of me is louder than the resume lets on. I play clarinet — first chair in the WMEA Junior All-State Rainier Band and a Concert Band soloist — compete in Model UN and report for a local paper, and help run my church's media team. I'm working toward a research assistant position in the Dandekar Lab at UW in 2027, and toward doing computational biology that's genuinely mine rather than a tutorial with my name on it.
